New York City, NY (ContentDesk via ContentDesk Direct) April 18, 2006 -- Itsi Atkins, operator of NYSegwayTours and founder of SegwayNYNY, reviews the New York International Auto Show now at the Javits Center until April 23. The New York International Auto shows public sneak preview on April 14th made automotive history. The 1,000 vehicles on display all represented the industrys love for oil, gas, and speed. The faster, the larger and the more chrome an automobile could display seemed to justify the praise and admiration of the public.Atkins, however, said he wanted to find a more practical and environmental green transport. He wanted to see the future and the advancements the automotive industry has achieved, to lessen the dependency on oil and gas consumption. But to his dismay, they must have all been left at the local green markets."I did not see any major displays of the urban transports of the future," Atkins said. "I did find however, the war of the sound waves with Sirius vs. XM. Each company was trying to out spend advertising dollars to impress the ears of the drivers. It is too bad the ultimate quality of the sound is not the digital source, but the earphones or speakers that blast the music and those seem to all be about equal in quality. "The real show stopper was a little black custom Seaway. The P model, the ultimate urban transport. This Seaway decked out with chrome XT handles and black fender. This icon of the future was gliding."The Seaway turned the heads of potential Hummer customers and gained respect from the energy conservationists. Many trendy New Yorkers seemed to smile and fondly want to experience the glide. This dream is actually a possibility, as SegwayNYNY, the local owners group offers free demonstrations at their monthly meeting on the fourth of each month. They also support NYSegwayTours.com for hands on two-hour segway101 experience. The Segway is being utilized by many governmental agencies. The NYPD and Parks Department have used this highly adaptable transport. The Segway Police model if it had been in attendance could have made a real score with the NY Auto Shows Police automobile."In summary I found the show an overwhelming success for seeing the latest models available," Atkins said. "I would hope that the same energy, commercial success and public acceptance could appreciate the startups, the first generation of new technology and support Segway acceptance. You will have to attend the June SegMeet 2, NYC premier custom Segway show and exhibit."For more information contact:www.NYSegwayTours.com.

Any habitable construction built for human purposes can be termed as a building. Buildings are used for purposes of residence, industry, academic, official, political and many others. In ancient times, buildings were in the form of small hutments which were made of thatch, hay, stone, bricks and such other crude materials. Today building construction is a much more complex art and uses materials such as reinforced concrete, cement, steel, glass, etc.

Based on their purposes, there are many types of buildings like residential buildings, warehouses, commercial buildings, church and school buildings, storage buildings, arenas and gymnasiums, farmhouses, museums and theaters, shopping malls and much more. Almost every commercial and noncommercial purpose requires a building to carry out its activities. The building may be of a single storey or may be a sprawling skyscraper having hundreds of stories.

Construction of a building is a very complicated task. When planning a building construction, the most important thing is to consider its function. The building must fulfill all the necessary requirements. Next consideration is of the exterior appearance of the building. This is achieved by hiring the services of an architect. Then a contractor is roped in to engineer and construct the building.

There are two main types of construction methods for buildings, viz. system construction and conventional construction. Conventional construction methods are orthodox methods, requiring traditional building components like wood, steel, masonry, and concrete to be cut fitted, welded and assembled on site. In contrast with conventional construction, system construction is both fast and effective. In this the building is erected with pre-designed parts which include floors, roofs and walls.

A building construction does not mean just the construction of floors, roofs and walls. There are several other fixtures like plumbing, electrical wires, cabinets, fireplaces, doors and windows, etc. that are to be considered. Buildings are also made waterproof, disaster proof and pest-resistant.

Almost every building can be covered by an appropriate insurance policy. There are many types of insurance policies available in order to avoid any loss like fire insurance, flood insurance, earthquake insurance, home insurance or boiler insurance..

The ubiquity of the internet today means that you can do most things without leaving your desk ? it also means that when making a trip, you can organise your car rental in advance in almost any location in the world, so that when you arrive, you can simply pick up your pre-booked car and go. To ensure that you car rental experience goes completely smoothly, there are a few things you should bear in mind before you even log on to that car rental website.

Decide before you book a car who exactly will be driving during your trip ? a car rental does not usually allow you switch drivers without a previous arrangement, so decide in advance whether one person will do all the driving or if you and a partner might take turns at the wheel. Having the wrong person in the driving seat might have implications on your insurance.
And always make sure that you have insurance. This can be arranged through your existing insurance company ? ask whether your existing insurance will cover your rental car. Regardless of the type of car you decide to hire, don't skimp on insurance ? it simply isn't worth the risk.

Depending on the nature of your trip, you will probably have particular requirements in your car rental ? so decide before booking what features you will need in a car. How many passengers will there be, will you be carrying a lot of luggage? While a fast and exotic car might be great for impressing clients on a one man or woman business trip, it isn't quite so appropriate for long haul driving with the kids! Ensure that you car you select has plenty of room for both passengers and luggage, and meets any other special requirements you might have.

Don't forget when hiring a rental car to bring all the appropriate documentation with you ? this is not the time to forget your driver's licence! It is also a good idea to bring a copy of the rental agreement in the car with you, just in case the police at any point stop you. And perhaps most importantly when renting a car in an unfamiliar location ? don't forget the map

Englewood, CO- Soaring workers compensation premiums continue to make life difficult in an extremely competitive construction industry. For many companies this issue is directly related to the challenge of effectively communicating with a growing non-English speaking workforce. The lucky few that have successfully bridged this communication gap have gained a competitive advantage by improving safety and thus achieving lower insurance premiums. This issue raises an imposing question for many companies: will the inability to train and field a safety conscious cross-cultural workforce, put your business in jeopardy?Chris Krueger, President of the construction safety solutions firm Zerah Services, feels that companies unwilling to address these cross-cultural issues will suffer from more than lofty insurance rates. "Safety performance has become a factor for obtaining new business now that experience modifiers of 1.0 or less are required when bidding for many jobs," states Krueger. "As the non-English speaking workforce (especially Latino) continues to grow, unprepared businesses will find that reaching these bidding requirements will become increasingly difficult."????Zerah Services has started to help many companies tackle the safety language barrier by providing a revolutionary safety-training tool known as the Zerah Integrated Performance Platform (ZIPP). According to Rick Lawrence, President of Colorado based Lawrence Construction Inc., "The ZIPP Software has enabled us to more effectively communicate with our Spanish speaking workforce?the savings in time and money has been invaluable."ZIPP is tailored to deliver each client's training, policies, and standard procedures through a multi-lingual and user-friendly CD-ROM interface. Krueger, a 30-year veteran of the construction industry explains that, "The majority of Spanish speaking workers are unable to comprehend written training documents that have been translated from English. This problem is eliminated by ZIPP's ability to deliver courses with language selectable audio." In addition to creating a safer work environment, successful cross-cultural training solutions have had a positive effect on employee loyalty. "Businesses utilize ZIPP to provide new employees with customized orientations that are presented by upper management," explains Krueger. "This has helped our clients to reduce turnover because workers see that management is committed to creating a safe and professional environment."For further information on how to implement a successful cross-cultural training strategy please contact Zerah Services at www.zerah.com or call 1-303-721-0880..

When your car's tires go flat, this kind of situation should not be a burden for you. After all, most cars already come with spare tires and a jack, along with other odds and ends that would help you facilitate changing your tires in no time at all.

To change a tire or a couple of tires, park your car first in an area where the ground is level. Do not forget to put on the parking brake. If your car is equipped with a manual transmission system, place it in gear. Turn off your engine for there is no need for it to be turned on and running. However, if you have parked in an area where there is an incline, put a huge rock or a wheel chock beneath the opposing wheel so that you would not find your car rolling down the incline.

This is now the time to take out your spare tire as well as a tire iron and the jack. If you have to remove a hubcap, do such. Then, loosen the lug nuts on your wheel. Do this before you place the jack in your car. Make sure that you loosen each and every lug nut that connects your tire to the wheel. But do not unscrew them completely. As long as the lug nuts are loosened up and not unscrewed completely, that would do.

Then, start jacking up your vehicle. To be safe, check your car owner's manual for the specifics on the location as per where you should put your jack. And when you jack your car, make sure that you raise your car a little higher so that you can not only remove the old flat tire but you can also put in the new tire.

When the car has been jacked up fine, you can now unscrew completely the lug nuts. And after this, you can remove the flat tire. Get out your new tire and put it where the old one was. Then, place back the lug nuts and tighten them up.

After this, you can now lower the jack and remove it. If you have a hubcap, you can now put it back on.
